Jeg havde her til aften den store fornøjelse at tale for en veloplagt flok sønderborgere til "Sluk Lyset"-arrangementet i Sønderborg. Meget imponerende at ca 150 mennesker var mødt op på Rådhustorvet i regnvejr, mens der var fodbold i fjernsynet.
Talen blev i øvrigt holdt uden brug af elektronisk forstærkning, men ved hjælp af en old-school megafon-tragt. Meget CO2-neuralt!
Millioner af mennesker rundt om i verden ville glo underligt på os danskere, hvis de oplevede, at nogle af os opfordrer resten til at slukke lyset en times tid denne forårsaften.
De millioner af mennesker har nemlig slet ikke noget elektrisk lys at slukke. Verdens fattigste folk ville være ellevilde ved at leve et sted, hvor der er strøm i kontakterne. Men vi kan med sindsro sige, at vi slukker lyset for deres skyld.
Hvis ikke der sker en massiv indsats for at redde klodens klima, vil det få alvorlige følger for mennesker, dyr og natur. Det er sagt så tit, at det nærmer sig det banale, men klimaændringerne er langt den største udfordring, vi i dag må finde de rigtige svar på.
Vi ved med sikkerhed, at gennemsnitstemperaturen i verden stiger hurtigere, end det var forudset blot for ganske få år siden. Det er således helt afgørende, at vi danskere langt om længe kan synge med på en anden melodi.
For seks år siden var det Bjørn Lomborgs falske melodi, vi skulle fløjte med på. Miljø og klima havde det bedre end nogensinde, så vi skulle bare slappe af og bygge nogle flere diger. Sådan tænker ingen længere, selv ikke den tidligere så klimaskeptiske snart forhenværende statsminister Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
Men vi må huske, at denne ene time ikke er at forveksle med et energibesparende aflad. Vi skal ikke blot tillade os at spare på lyset denne ene time, for derefter at tilsidesætte vores energibesparende bestræbelser resten af året. Meningen med denne dag er, at vi skal huske hinanden på at være miljøbevidste hver dag. Vi må for eksempel ikke glemme at slukke computeren, når vi alligevel sidder og ser X-factor i stuen.
Denne aften er vi her i Sønderborg en del af en international koalition, der tæller millioner af miljøbevidste mennesker fra over 1200 byer i mere end 80 lande.
Man kan spørge sig selv om et lille land som Danmark kan gøre en nævneværdig forskel med sådan en lille event. Men Danmark er en vigtig aktør denne aften. For det er ikke uden betydning, at Danmark er vært ved den internationale klimakonference i december i år. Og et værtskab forpligter. Danmark skal gå forrest allerede i aften og vise resten af verden, at tiden er inde til at være energibevidste også på mikroniveau. Værtskabet ved klimakonferencen giver Danmark en unik chance for at være et lille land, der taler med et stort lands stemme.Ingen kan betvivle, at el-pæren er en genial opfindelse, der har revolutioneret verden, men den har udtjent sin værnepligt, og vi bør snart sende den på pension til fordel for nye og mere energibesparende produkter.
Tilsvarende bør vi også tage fat i hjemmet der hvor det batter: Med forbrugerelektronikken. Fladskærm, spillemaskiner og computere er det sted hvor der er mest at spare, kan Energisparefonden fortælle os, men det kniber med at komme i gang.
Derfor har jeg i forrige uge fremsat et forslag i Folketinget der skal gøre det lettere at købe det energivenlige forbrugerelektronik. Der skal være en simpel mærkningsordning på forbrugerelektronik i stil med den vi kender fra køleskabe og vaskemaskiner. Og forslaget, ja det har jeg fået inspiration til af nogle af de børn der for halvandet år siden i Klimakaravanens besøg i Sønderborg. Nogle gange behøver de bedste løsninger ikke være så svære og vores eget ProjectZero er fremragende til at føde nye anvendelige idéer.Der er endnu lang vej til vi her i Sønderborg kan kalde os CO2 neutrale, men vi er kommet i gang med de første skridt. Over hundrede familier er gået i gang med at knækker de dårlige vaner og det er ikke bare til fordel for samfundet, det sparer også dem selv penge. Jeg er sikker på at endnu flere gode idéer vil komme ud af det engagement de mange familier der bor spredt ud over hele kommunen har.
I vores målestok er det meget vigtigt at vise vej, at være en mønsterkommune, ligesom Danmark bør være et mønsterland.
